from Flagpole Magazine (Athens, GA):

Fred Weaver

The hard-boiled acoustic songwriter from Baton Rouge, LA (formerly of NYC's "prog-core" band Vineland) is touring behind a fine album of emotional, anti-folk rock songs titled Present Dusk.  Although he claims John Fahey, Fugazi and Denis Johnson as main influences, his voice resembles that of Workshop-era Bob Mould and post-Burma Roger Miller as well.
